Round II: Cops & Tables
 | | The Countryside Police Department & Ledo's Pizza join forces to benefit the Special Olympics! | COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. -It's not Halloween but on Friday, December 12; don't be surprised to see police officers dressed in servers' clothing! The Countryside Police Department and the Special Olympics of Illinois are teaming up once again for the second annual "Cops & Tables" fundraiser, taking place from 5- 10 p.m. at Ledo's Pizza. As officers hustle to serve tables as waiters and waitresses, all tips earned throughout the evening will directly benefit the Special Olympics.
"This is a great way to directly support an organization that does so much for the special citizens of Illinois," said Deputy Chief of the Countryside Police Department, Scott Novak. "We especially appreciate this unique opportunity to help spread awareness and goodwill towards a very honorable organization."
Outfitted in Special Olympics tee shirts, Countryside police officers will graciously donate their time serving as many tables as possible at Ledo's Pizza. Over the past few weeks, the Countryside favorite known for its thin crust sausage pizza has been receiving dozens of calls in anticipation of the event.
"Our diners really look forward to it," said Ledo's manager Pam Taubery. "It's a whole new way of looking at the police officers as they serve the community by doing something different."
The Countryside Police Department raised more than $7,000 for the Special Olympics last year through a number of local fundraisers. The Department also participates in "Cops on Top," which will take place at Dunkin' Donuts in the spring of 2009. "Cops on Top," is part of a coordinated, statewide effort in which the police officers, standing rooftop, solicit donations for the Special Olympics from the customers below.
Ledo's Pizza is located at 5525 S. LaGrange Road in Countryside. For more information on the City of Countryside and its establishments, please visit www.gocountryside.net
