On the Road again It's time to mark your calendars and get on the 'Road to Route 66' where you will encounter movies, concerts and festivals along the way.
Countryside is again presenting 17 special events over seven months. Road to Route 66 includes such special events as Concerts in the Park, Movies in the Park, Antique Classic Custom Car and Cycle Show, Harvest Fest, Children's Halloween Party and Children's Christmas Party and Christmas Tree Lighting.
Mayor Robert Conrad said being able to provide all of these special events at no cost to residents is just one of the great things Countryside provides to its residents.
"We are excited to kick off the 'Road to Route 66'," Conrad said. "These events are a great way for our community to come together and celebrate not only our City but the historic Route 66 that travels through our town."
These events are designed to provide family fun and entertainment while promoting the City's diverse business community including its auto dealers, hotels, restaurants and retailers.
Again this year, Vulcan Materials Company is the presenting sponsor of these special events. Other sponsors include AT&T, Lyons Township, Cardinal Fitness and Suburban Life. The City is also continuing its efforts to develop sponsorship opportunities to help underwrite its marketing and special programming efforts.
It's a great time to come out to the park, catch up with friends and family and take in a night of free entertainment. A food vendor also will be selling items at each event to curb that appetite.
But once our summer series are over, the fun does not end. Countryside still will be presenting Harvest Fest, Children's Halloween Party, Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Children's Christmas Party.
Information about all of the events is available at gocountryside.net
