"We look forward to calling Countryside home to one of the most advanced Wendy's in America," said Mayor Robert Conrad. "Members of the City and its surrounding communities are loyal shoppers and will greatly appreciate the upcoming improvements." The new Wendy's, which will officially unveil on December 6, offers visible differences from the old model which was built in 1979. The new model utilizes more green technology, having implemented a new energy-efficient roof to increase insulation effectiveness and replaced all existing light fixtures with energy-efficient models. The customer's in-store dining experience will be enhanced with a completely remodeled dining room utilizing the new "fresh" decor scheme, new seating, renovated restrooms and a new self-serve beverage station. Passers-by will notice the new model's more contemporary appearance, such as a new, curved roof line and several new awnings. Wendy's also beautified the grounds around the store by removing some of the sidewalk areas, replacing the walkways with landscaping, and updating all existing flowers and shrubbery. "We are thrilled to unveil this unique Wendy's in Countryside," said Amy Sheren, Field Marketing Manager of Wendy's. "The remodeling will be the first of what we hope to be many upgrades for additional stores in the coming year to enhance the experience of our customers." The remodeling signifies a new look for Wendy's going forward and will serve as the basis for nationwide implementation in future years. Amongst a slew of national contenders, Countryside was selected to showcase the new prototype because of the city's great visibility in the Chicagoland market. Wendy's will celebrate the unveiling with a grand "re-opening" event and ribbon-cutting attended by the Mayor on Saturday, December 6 at 12:30 p.m. The event will include a live broadcast by 101.9 THE MIX midday host Koz (the Mix Street) and giveaways every 12 minutes, from 1-4 p.m., of iPod Shuffles and Wendy's gift cards. Kids will enjoy a magician, a balloon artist and free Frostys. The new Wendy's is located at 9941 W. 55th in Countryside. |
