COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. - Development opportunities in Countryside will be highlighted as Countryside officials bring them before a worldwide audience. Countryside officials will be attending the International Council of Shopping Centers trade show May 17 to 21 to showcase the City and its available properties. The four-day event features educational sessions on retail and economic development issues, a trade expo and leasing mall showcasing leading retailers, developers, leasing agents, brokers and public sector professionals. "Countryside has a lot to offer with no municipal property tax, a thriving business district and a great community," said Mayor Robert Conrad. "We have some great development opportunities in prime locations that we think many businesses will be very interested in." Conrad said he hopes to get the word out about Countryside to companies from across the United States. A recent market assessment has presented some findings to reinforce the unique opportunities in Countryside - high retail sales per capita, an increase in gross supportable retail inventory and a large population within a 10-minute drive of Countryside. City officials will be meeting with shopping center owners, developers and retailers during their time at the trade show. The City of Countryside also will have a booth at the trade show to continue to aggressively market the City's available properties. Currently the City is marketing four City-owned properties: 5949 LaGrange Road, 6001 LaGrange Road, 5745 LaGrange Road and 5631 LaGrange Road (contract pending). Some of these properties may be combined for development. These actions coincide with the City's marketing plan which includes a billboard campaign touting the development opportunities in the City.
