Talking about a revolution

COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. - A new state-of-the-art auto dealership is coming to Countryside and is helping to shape the future of LaGrange Road.

Autobarn Mazda has moved its dealership and plans to expand the business this spring. Countryside soon will be home to a Mazda Retail Revolution. The Mazda dealership recently moved to the former location of Dan Wolf Pontiac/GMC.

"We are excited to invest in Countryside and bring our state-of-the-art dealership to the City," said Richard Fisher, owner of Autobarn Mazda. "We believe Countryside is a perfect home to expand our business and were happy to work with the City on our relocation."

Autobarn Mazda is currently operating at the former Dan Wolf Pontiac dealership, 6060 S. LaGrange Road. It has plans to demolish the front of the building and expand starting late spring. Fisher anticipates the new facility to be finished in early 2009. The Autobarn group also has taken over ownership of the Subaru dealership. Autobarn Subaru of Countryside is located at 6070 LaGrange Road.

Mayor Robert Conrad said Countryside is getting it done in working with Mazda on the relocation of its dealership. The City is shaping its future and these new opportunities are allowing the City to grow.

"Mazda recognizes the increasing opportunities in Countryside and has chosen to not only invest in Countryside but expand its dealerships," said Conrad. "This is a great partnership for us both and we look forward to continuing to work with them."

This prototype facility caters to the 'Zoom-Zoom' Mazda customer with its sleek design, colorful interior and informational displays. The dealership will feature a business center, Internet, interactive gaming, customer cafe, large showroom and auto center.

These are just some elements of the shaping of LaGrange Road. The City is aggressively marketing property at 5631 LaGrange Road, the former motel property; and 5745 LaGrange Road, the former fire station property. It is actively seeking to find purchasers who will be large sales tax generators that will serve the City's needs. More information is available at www.gocountryside.net/development.

The City also is moving forward on design concepts for the LaGrange Road beautification between 55th Street and Joliet Road. The design improvements are part of grant money received through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program.
